From June 4–6, Dublin hosted the fifth International Social Housing Festival (ISHF), which brought together nearly 2,500 housing experts, government and municipal representatives, researchers, and stakeholders from all over Europe and beyond.

We are proud to share that the INSPIRenov project session, organized by EKYL, CTBG, and GESB, was selected for the official festival programme. The focus was on access to renovation financing and the difficulties homeowners and HOAs face in supporting the Renovation Wave and the New European Bauhaus.

Key takeaways from the session:

  • Grants won’t last forever—it’s time to develop sustainable financial tools in partnership with public institutions and private banks.
  • There is a strong need for know-how in creating financial products, especially in countries with high levels of private homeownership.
  • Public-private partnerships can be difficult but rewarding—new affordable financial products are possible.

We also introduced the concept of the INSPIRenov Alliance—a European network aimed at co-developing sustainable financial solutions for housing renovation.

The event was a motivating experience for the INSPIRenov team—we shared expertise, built connections, and discussed potential collaboration with the European Investment Bank, including a meeting with Mr. Tanguy Desrousseau, Director of Housing, Cities and Regions.
